  • Impreza Wagon (with EyeSight and specific headlights)
  • WRX (with EyeSight and specific headlights)

The nine awards for Subaru tie it for first among all brands tested.

The IIHS awards Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ based on a vehicle's performance in the Institute's crash tests; on their front crash prevention systems; and on their headlight ratings.

To earn a Top Safety Pick designation a vehicle must have strong ratings in each area. To earn Top Safety Pick+, it must have strong crash ratings and highly rated headlights as standard equipment.

Focus on Pedestrians

In 2020, IIHS has considered a vehicle's role in pedestrian crashes for passenger-side impacts. It tests pedestrian-detection technology for their performance against several pedestrian scenarios.

Over 6,000 pedestrians lost their lives in crashes in 2018.

All of the Subaru Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ winners offer Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which features automated emergency brake management.

Time Sensitive Results

IIHS officials note that the organization's standards have become more stringent over the past 14 years.

Therefore, a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ winner from past years may not equate to the 2020 winners' performances.

Subaru is one of several automakers that have voluntarily committed to making automatic emergency brake management standard on their vehicles by 2022.

Subaru is especially committed to minimizing vehicle-to-pedestrian accidents.

At Gerald Jones Subaru we are proud to partner with Subaru to provide safe, reliable and enjoyable vehicles for our customers.
